It’s January, and I have something blooming. Thank God for houseplants!

My single bloom this absolutely frigid Bloom Day is from a Primula that my husband brought home for me on a whim the other day. It is so bright and cheerful, I can’t help but feel a little more chipper when I’m watering or deadheading it. Behind the primula is Peperomia ‘Ruffles,’ which I bought mainly because Peperomia is one of the few houseplants I haven’t managed to kill.

TGFH indeed! I also bought a Primula in bloom. It’s too hard to get through a winter like this without some flower in the house and my potted Tulips aren’t showing any signs of life yet.

The primula I once bought in bloom years ago still blooms in a corner of my garden. My indoor garden is not notable, but I posted info and photo a friend sent me of the Inaugural Poppy.

Quite charming, Colleen. Now will you plant it outside in the spring? I have great luck if I can keep them alive until then :) Stay warm … more of this frigid stuff & snow on the way … YIPPEE!

I echo the comment. I also have only houseplants this month. It’s too cold to take the camera outside. I love your Primula. Happy GBBD.~~Dee

I wish I could grow houseplants. Yours look so lovely!

The petals look like they took the color of sunlight right from a warm, summer day. And we need that reminder of warmth on these cold, cold winter days!

Thanks for joining in for bloom day. It’s good to have you back with us!

What a gorgeous combination those two make!

That really is a happy making flower!

Sigh! Not even my African violets are blooming.

The Pantone color of the year is Mimosa Yellow, Colleen – and the swatches I’ve seen online sure look like your cheerful Primula!

Even though there are a few flowers blooming here in Texas, a R/W/B trio of grocery store primroses proved too cute for me to resist, either.

      Happy GBBD!

PS A family here in Austin had quints yesterday – 4 daughters and 1`son, with a preschool daughter at home. Instead of 3 little mothers, that boy will have 5 of them!

Who wouldn’t be cheered by that golden yellow? I love the shape of the primula blooms, don’t you? And it looks terrific against the deep shade of the Peperomia. I should get one of those. My mum used to have one and I loved it. I think I had one years ago.
Are you getting more snow today? We are!
